Kaylie Edwards (00:00)

Hey there, lovely listeners. Welcome back to Creative Juggle Joy podcast. I'm Kaylie Edwards, your host for today, and I'm so excited to dive into a topic that I truly believe can help you level up your handmade business. Today, we're talking about moving into a hybrid model. What does that mean?

Well, it means adding digital products alongside your handmade creations. And yes, you can do both. So grab a cuppa, get comfy and let's dive in. You don't have to choose between handmade and digital. What if you could do both?

Today we're talking about moving into a hybrid model where handmade businesses can add digital products or other scalable income streams without giving up what they love. Why handmade businesses can benefit from digital income. More flexibility. Adding digital products opens up endless possibilities. You can scale without limitations of physical production.

Imagine not needing to make every item by hand to generate income. It's like a hamster wheel when you're creating handmade global reach. With digital products, your audience is no longer just local. You can reach customers all over the world without having to increase your workload.

and the power of automation. Once you create a digital product, it's a one-time effort that can keep earning you money while you focus on creating more or serving your customers. Easy digital products to start with. So printable patterns. If you're into crafting, knitting, sewing, you could create printable patterns and templates, or even if you're interested in surface pattern design.

This is a great one you can do. These products don't require much effort after the initial creation and you can sell them over and over. SVGs and digital art for digital artists or traditional artists who have a knack for the digital creation software, offering your illustrations as SVG files or digital downloads.

and even art prints using print on demand is an easy step into the digital world. These products also allow you to keep your handmade roots alive by digitizing your art and gives more audience a chance to love and respect your art and get joy from your art. For people who might not be able to afford your original art

They can have a digital form or a printed form of your original art piece. Guides and worksheets. Maybe you love teaching. Why not create a guide or worksheet that aligns with your craft? This could be a beginner's guide to a handmade process or templates that others can use in their own creative work. How to introduce digital products without the overwhelm. So start small. Choose one product like printables or digital planner.

or you're an art print of your original, introduce it to your audience gradually. Don't go overboard, let your customers warm up to this new offering. Maybe you just validate what they want, whether they want it first. Choose a few ideas and poll your audience for feedback. It may be that you have your handmade audience.

and you also start catering to the creative audience that want to follow you and into your niche. You don't have to reinvent the wheel, just offer them more value and use the 80-20 rule. So focus on 20 % of your digital products that are most likely to get sales and refine them over time.
